Banquet 2009

Saturday, April 24, 2010 On Saturday April 24, 2010 the Officers and Members of the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co., Inc. (FVFAC) held their annual Awards Banquet and Installation of Officers for 2010. In addition to the swearing in of fire company officers for 2010, members of the FVFAC were recognized for their service to the citizens of Fallston and Harford County during 2009. The evening featured the presentation of awards and proclamations to fire company members by representatives from various State of Maryland and Harford County government bodies.

Operational awards for 2009 included EMS Officer of the Year which was presented to EMS Captain Ed Benesch and Fire Officer of the Year which was presented to Assistant Chief Dave Williams. These awards are voted on by the respective operational crew members each year. Both of these officers have received this award in previous years, and have continued to serve both the fire company and the community with distinction.

The award for EMS Person of the Year for 2009 went to Lieutenant/EMT-P Jessica Baumgartner. The FVFAC Firefighter of the Year award for 2009 was presented to Firefighter Joseph Fellner. These two honorees have displayed a strong desire to serve the needs of the Fallston community, by fulfilling emergency response roles and also by handling many of the “behind the scene” duties that are required to maintain the readiness and professionalism of the FVFAC.

Each year the FVFAC bestows a Rookie of the Year award on new members of the fire and EMS service who have made an immediate impact on the delivery of services to the community and the efficient operation of the fire company. The EMS Rookie of the Year for 2009 was awarded to EMT Amanda Puleio. The Fire Rookie of the Year award was presented to F.F. Matt Glock. These members have attended all required training, many drills and other activities, and have become integral members of the fire company in a very short period of time.

Each year these individuals are awarded the Chief’s Award and the President’s Award respectively. The 2009 Chief’s Award was presented by Chief Joe Woods to Laura Woods. President Chris Gibbons selected Susan Pafel as the recipient of the 2009 President’s Award.
